Nick Burner, MDiv, MA, LPC,
EMDR Therapist
Maybe calm, clarity or connection all feel like too much to hope for.
Your nervous system always seems to be either buzzing on high alert, or completely numb and shut down, and you can’t figure out which one is worse.
You move through life in a fog, often disconnected from others, and sometimes not even remembering what feels like to be truly connected with yourself.
You can’t shake the feeling that you’re broken and can never be or do what people expect of you—like you’re “too much”, or “not enough”, or somehow both at the same time.
In so many relationships, you’ve felt forced to choose between stoically sharing the “facts” of your story and being acknowledged, or exposing the depth of your pain and ending up feeling alone and misunderstood.
You’re not broken.
And you’re not alone.
You’re just looking for someone who can hold both compassion for your past as well as curiosity for the healing that’s still possible.
That’s the kind of space I offer.
Hi,
I’m Nick.
I specialize in working with
people who’ve had to survive a lot
— physically, emotionally,
relationally, spiritually —
often from a very young age.
My Approach:
I use EMDR, IFS-informed therapy, and other trauma-informed, experiential therapies to support:
people recovering from relational, sexual, and spiritual abuse and trauma
couples navigating the impact of trauma and addiction on their relationship
teens and adults facing panic, anxiety, depression, and compulsive behaviors
I am passionate about this work because I’ve met many people whose profound pain went unrecognized, misdiagnosed, or treated superficially — not because they were beyond help, but because they hadn’t yet found care that spoke their language and met them where they were at.
That’s why my approach is trauma-responsive and client-driven — sensitive to the unique ways the effects of trauma show up in your mind and body, and empowering deep work at a pace that feels meaningful and manageable for you.
If you are looking to go beyond symptom management, to engage in deep, focused exploration, and to experience real and lasting healing, we may be a good fit.

here’s my commitment:
I won’t “do therapy”
to you or for you.
Instead, I aim to share the experience
together-with you,
a collaborative
process where we:
Hold.
We’ll take a close and compassionate look at the symptoms and relational patterns that keep resurfacing — anxiety, dissociation, shame, self-blame, or the sense that you’re always bracing for something.
Honor.
We’ll bring respect and appreciation for the brilliance of how you adapted to survive, and work together to gently update your nervous system’s sense of safety using various trauma-informed therapy methods that resonate with you.
Heal.
In time, you’ll find yourself responding to life less out of a survival mentality, and more from a place of grounded connection — with others, and with the parts of yourself that have waited so long to be cared for.
