  • I provide in-person therapy sessions at my office in Grand Rapids near the corner of Forest Hill Ave SE and Cascade Rd SE. When you arrive, you’re welcome to take a seat in the waiting area, and I’ll come greet you at the time scheduled for our session. I hope you’ll find my office calming and cozy, and that you’ll accept my offer of a mug of coffee or tea as you settle in.

  • I offer HIPAA-compliant telehealth therapy for clients located anywhere in the state of Michigan. After scheduling our first session, you’ll receive a link to a secure online Telehealth platform. Many clients find online therapy to be just as effective and even more accessible.

  • I’m currently in-network with Blue Cross Blue Shield, Blue Care Network, Aetna, and Priority Health. If you’re using one of these plans, I can bill your insurance directly. Contact your insurance provider directly for information about your benefits and the out-of-pocket cost to you.

If you’re not using insurance (also known as “private pay”) and have financial need, feel free to ask about my sliding scale fee program during your free consultation call or at our first session.

  • Sessions typically last 45 to 55 minutes, depending on several factors including client age, energy level, arrival time, and how much emotional material we’re working with.

Some clients benefit from the full “clinical hour” (50-55 minutes, which allows time for the required clinical documentation after you leave the session), while others feel more grounded with a shorter window. We’ll always move at the pace that works best for you.

  • I believe that good therapy moves as quickly as possible and as slowly as necessary. How long you may spend in therapy depends on what you're carrying and what kind of healing you’re looking for.

    I’ve worked with:

    • people who are motivated specifically to engage in short-term, focused work

    • people who are interested in engaging in longer-term therapy to untangle and heal deeper patterns

    • people who started therapy assuming they were in one of these categories and ended therapy in the opposite one!

I don’t believe in rushing or prescribing the process. We’ll move at a pace that honors your story and capacity, and you can always change your mind.

  • If you are a private pay client (not using insurance), you have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your health care will cost.

Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have certain types of health care coverage or who are not using certain types of health care coverage an estimate of their bill for health care items and services before those items or services are provided.

You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any health care items or services upon request or when scheduling such items or services.

If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more for any provider or facility than your Good Faith Estimate from that provider or facility, you can dispute the bill.

For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises/consumers, email FederalPPDRQuestions@cms.hhs.gov, or call 1-800-985-3059.

  • If for any reason you are unable to keep your scheduled appointment, it is essential for you to notify me at least 24 hours in advance of your appointment time. Late cancellations or no-shows may be charged the full session fee.

This 24-hour notice allows me to offer the opening in my schedule to a client who is on a waiting list to see me or who needs an urgent appointment.

  • My approach is relational and experiential. That means we go beyond simply talking about your struggles to work with your emotional experience and nervous system responses in the present moment (drawing on modalities like Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Internal Family Systems (IFS), somatic-based methods, trauma-informed uses of cognitive strategies, and more).

Check out the FAQ sections on the Specialties pages to learn more about the therapy methods that we may decide to use together, and feel free to ask me more questions during your free consultation call.
